Sound pollution in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Police have suddenly woken up from a Deaf Police to an Active Police in Controlling Sound Pollution by drivers of buses. March 12 was one of the Most Peaceful Days to the Public as there was no sound pollution by drivers of buses. This could be felt by public at home, on the road and at the office premises. 

Sound Pollution by drivers of buses is a subject the undersigned has written on many occasion as well as by numerous citizens with respect to Sound Pollution especially by drivers of buses having loud horns and using them at random when approaching bus stops and using them at random while bus is in motion on public roads as if chasing mosquitoes and flies off road

All this stopped from March 12 as Traffic Police got active in taking action against drivers of buses for having loud horns fitted in buses. It is not Only the underpaid, over worked drivers that should be prosecuted. The owners of buses too should be prosecuted. It is Observed that some of the State Owned and Operated buses too have been fitted with Loud horns. The driver, Depot superintendent, chairman SLTB, Minister of Transport too should be prosecuted for violating the sound pollution Laws of the country

There is a Law that states that sound at the Perimeter of Industry be below 80 Decibels. It was decided by Powers that be that the Sound of Horns should be below 60 Decibels. High Cost Sound Detection Equipment was imported by may be Ministry of Transport for checking sound of horns. Has the public ever seen this equipment in use?. 

They are rotting in some Where house as the equipment imported was not suitable for use in paradise. It is time that the authorities concerned inquired into finding out the plight of this equipment and those responsible be prosecuted for importing wrong equipment using funds from tax contributed by public of this country

There is a video going viral of a Sub Inspector of Traffic Police inspecting and charging drivers of Buses for having high sounding horns in buses. Once they are taken to court the learned Attorneys at Law of this country who can make black white of Vise Versa will argue in Court. How can the Police prove that the sound of the horn is above the permitted limit? Judgment would depend on the attitude of the sitting Judge to fine or release the driver without charges based on capacity of Defense Attorney. What is Maximum penalty for sound pollution in this country? How many years would it take for a driver to be hauled to Court. How many times would the case be postponed? How many years would it take for a driver to be found guilty? The owner of the bus and all those responsible too should be charged in Court so that this offence would not be repeated in future

DIG Traffic, an efficient Officer, after many years, has woken up at the sacrifice of an Inspector of Police Murdered by a hit and run driver. Those traveling in the vehicle are equally responsible for the offence as the Law says. Not reporting a Mishap at the closest Police. Not taking or making arrangements for the victim to be taken for medical care. But it was decided by the learned Judge to release passengers as well as the driver / passengers of the vehicle for being part of the entourage. The Law is an ass unless looked at in a positive sense

Another Objective of the Traffic Police is to stop Red and Blue Light Flashing Political Entourages.

Special Concessions can be given to Political entourages if they are led by Traffic Police. All other Red / Blue Light Flashing Political Entourages should follow Normal Traffic Laws of country. Current DIG Traffic will see his name in the record books if toad discipline is brought back. It is the citizen’s funds that maintain those serving the uniformed services and the politicians
