Global insurance brand, Allianz Lanka announced the successful completion and handover of its second major sustainability initiative in the Mahiyanganaya area.

The project in question involved the installation and commissioning of a photovoltaic solar power generation array at the B/MA/Senanigama Primary School, Mahiyanganaya.

The project will now ensure that the school is able to obtain its daily energy requirements from a renewable energy source, while also contributing the excess power generated to the national grid.

“We are committed to embracing and promoting sustainability in all our efforts, both internally and externally.
The commissioning of this new solar power generation array for the Senanigama Primary School, located about 15kms from Mahiyanganaya town, will ensure that the school will now not only enjoy a renewable power source, but will also help to support the national grid, with the surplus power generated by the new solar power array,” said Allianz Lanka Chief Marketing Officer Mangala Bandara discussing the project.

As sustainable energy is a crucial need of the hour, he stressed that the company intend to continue to fulfil its corporate responsibility by supporting more such projects in the future, as we seek to support the global transition away from fossil fuels and towards renewable energy.

In addition to the installation and commissioning of the new solar power generation array, Allianz Lanka also donated book-kits to the students of the Senanigama Primary School to support the educational needs of students for the academic year 2022.

A total of 72 students of the school received a book-kit, while Allianz Lanka also donated a water-filter and first aid kits to the school, to further enhance the facilities provided to these schoolchildren.
