Architects’ Work and Trade Exhibition Committee 2022

In the hope of a bright and steady future, the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects launched  Architect 2022, Architects’ Work and Trade Exhibition, at Galadari Hotel, recently.

To a distinguished but restricted audience the evening’s proceedings were set in motion with a speech by SLIA President Archt. Russell Dandeniya, followed by an overview of the exhibition and its content by Architects’ Work and Trade Exhibition Chairperson and Vice President Archt. Dilummini De Mel.Under the theme ‘Architecture for Well-being’, Architect 2022 aims at increasing public awareness, access and interaction, making it more attractive to the building trade. This will be a novel experience for the public with many opportunities available to interact with architects, particularly the opportunity of a one-on-one free consultancy service with a panel of architects for guidance and direction in all construction-related problems encountered by them, apart from viewing the various projects undertaken by architects depicted in their panels on display. An Architects Forum will provide educative sessions encompassing the various aspects of the profession of architecture throughout the four-day duration of the exhibition and a stall with the various publications by the SLIA will enable purchases by the public. Students from four architectural schools will also showcase their work in stalls allocated to them.

Following the launch of Architect 2022, a stall holders briefing by the SLIA is to be held on January 27, 2022, at the BMICH, at which the stall holders will be briefed and provided related documents and information on their participation with the opportunity given to clarify their concerns.

Architect 2022 Architects’ Work and Trade Exhibition is scheduled from February 24 to 27, 2022, at the BMICH Complex and opens to the public daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The layout of the exhibition is designed with awareness of COVID prevention under the new normal situation.
