Colombo Dockyard PLC (CDPLC) opened a branch office at the Trincomalee Port on 2nd of November.

Jayantha Samaraweera - State Minister of Warehouse Facilities, Container Yards, Port Supply Facilities and Boats and Shipping Industry Development inaugurated the facility.

Addressing the invitees, the State Minister stressed that “This is a historical moment. While ship repairing is adding to the profile of Trincomalee port, this event is an opportunity to expose the boat and shipbuilding capabilities of the country to the world.”

The new establishment would allow CDPLC’s afloat repair team who serves in Colombo and Hambantota to extend their services to Trincomalee to handle larger size vessels comfortably.

The growing economies of India and Bangladesh rapidly increase the marine traffic between East India to Asia, which increases the prospect afloat repair and service opportunities in the region.
