Condominium Developers Association appoints Pinsiri Fernando as new Chairman

The ninth Annual General Meeting of the Condominium Developers Association of Sri Lanka (CDASL) was held recently at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. 

The event witnessed the appointment of CDASL Chairman for the year 2023-2024, Pinsiri Fernando, with the participation of industry leaders and experts, charting the path towards growth and innovation in the condominium sector.

Outgoing Chairman Brahmanage Premalal emphasised the success factors that were achieved over the past two years, even during the global pandemic. Counting on the two key achievements during the tenure: getting a representative from the CDASL to the Condominium Management Authority (CMA) board and granting approval to construct pet-friendly apartments, many other initiatives and activities were executed by the association, namely, proposing an amendment to the new Urban Development Authority (UDA) Act regarding new building regulations, proposing amendments to the Apartment Ownership Law, dealing closely with the Building Materials Corporation (BMC) to get allowance for the CDASL members to directly import building materials for construction, opening the discussion about service apartments with the relevant officials, lodging issues to the Construction Industry Development Authority (CIDA), partnering with the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) in its anti-money laundering measures and organising the ‘Member Evening 2023’, with a lot of participation from experts.

Fernando highlighted two main aims that the association would focus on: stabilising the condominium sector and providing more networking and connecting sessions for the members. He further stated that he is looking forward to a year of impactful action to uplift the industry and the association among the stakeholders and public.
The Executive Committee of the CDASL comprises CDASL Chairman Pinsiri Fernando (Suncity Developers Chairman), CDASL Secretary Prasanna De Zoysa (SMI Housing Development Director), CDASL Treasurer Sivarajah Thumilan (Blue Ocean Residencies Chairman), Aelian Gunawardene (JAT Property Group Managing Director), Brahmanage Premalal (Prime Lands Chairman), Dasun Wickramaratna (Global Housing and Real Estate Chairman), Dhammike Wasanthakumara (Capitol Developers COO), Kishore Reddy (Quest and Query Chairman), Nalin Herath (Home Lands Skyline Chairman), Pradeep Moraes (Praedium Chairman) Roderick David (Overseas Realty Operations Manager) and Supul Inoke Perera (Whittall Boustead COO).
