Hameedia, Sri Lanka’s leading menswear brand that is synonymous with style and quality, has launched an employee health programme named ‘Cycle To Work’ to encourage employees to commute to office on bicycles to enhance their fitness and remain healthy.
The programme, initiated as part of Hameedia’s vision of having an active, healthy workforce, was launched during a simple ceremony attended by Managing Director of Hameedia Fouzul Hameed and several employees.
The Guest of Honour at the event was Yasas Hewage, leading Marketer and Founder of Spinner Cycling Lifestyle Center who has built a reputation as one of the country’s leading advocates for health and fitness in Sri Lanka. During the event, 50 brand new bicycles were handed over to Hameedia employees. In today’s fast-paced business world, employees are having less time to focus on their health due to the demands of their jobs.
Additionally, commuting to work has become an increasingly time consuming affair with more traffic on the roads resulting in employees spending a significant amount of time commuting to and from their offices. Hameedia’s ‘Cycle To Work’ programme aims to provide a timely solution to these problems by encouraging employees to commute from office on their brand new bicycles, making them healthier and reducing the time spent on the road. Given the higher pollution levels of today and the need to switch to ‘greener’ transport modes, the ‘Cycle To Work’ programme is a timely initiative that reiterates Hameedia’s commitment to the well-being of their employees as well as the environment.
Managing Director of Hameedia Fouzul Hameed said, “Today is a significant milestone in Hameedia’s ongoing journey to create a healthy workforce. I am a strong believer in having a team that is fit and healthy. Such a team will be able to perform at a higher level in their job roles, will be happier at office and at home, and will seldom fall ill.
The ‘Cycle To Work’ initiative will go a long way in ensuring that they get regular exercise during work days. Also, it is beneficial to the environment and aligns perfectly with the global trend where cycling has become very popular, especially with the onset of
the pandemic.”
