Hayleys Travels, the travel and leisure arm of Hayleys PLC, has formalised a partnership with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) to promote sustainable tourism and leverage on synergistic opportunities in the tourism sector.

Sri Lanka remains poised to capitalise on growth prospects in tourism upon the gradual relaxation of travel restrictions across major markets such as Germany, where pent up demand and evolving user expectations will command a specialised tourism product.

The strategic geographical location and the diverse propositions for tourism such as culture, wildlife, and natural wonders amongst others, will position Sri Lanka as a destination that can fulfil emergent needs.

This partnership is expected to provide a platform for Sri Lanka’s tourism proposition to gain access to key stakeholders in Germany.

“We are delighted to partner with such an esteemed entity as AHK Sri Lanka,” said Gerard Victoria, Director / Chief Executive Officer of Hayleys Aviation. “This partnership provides us with an opportunity to approach key market segments in Germany for tourism promotion, as well as to drive synergies with German entities established in Sri Lanka. We will also gain access to a wealth of knowledge in relation to best practices in sustainable tourism, which can be implemented locally.”

Partnerships of this nature will help re-ignite Sri Lanka’s in-bound tourism industry, thereby propelling post pandemic industry growth.
