In line with global energy transition trends, the newly launched 360 degree retail logistics platform Sling Mobility will power the zero-emission mobility future in Sri Lanka.

Facilitating a fast forward transition to sustainable transportation, Sling Mobility provides an economically efficient and environmentally friendly solution for independentcouriers, fleet owners, businesses, restaurants and food chains seeking to fulfill their logistics needs.

This cloud-integrated, end-to-end EV-based ecosystem encompasses all aspects to include, driver and customer communication, logistics management, payment gateway, battery swapping and hybrid solar backed bulk charging stations, thus, offering an efficient and economical solution to the users. Elaborating on the business model, co-founders Love Yadav and Peeyush Asati who bring world class business and technical expertise to Sling Mobility observe that as the market segments for food delivery, self-driven rentals, e-commerce and e-grocer ride have developed rapidly, the demand for cleaner and more cost-effective transportation solutions have increased concurrently, which is also driven by policy change within Sri Lanka and the region. This conversion is important since Sri Lanka cannot afford to miss the bus on the future.

It will be an ideal solution for business fleets representing small and large retailers as well as restaurant chains with large delivery requirements as they can leverage on its low delivery costs, minimal delivery CAPEX, timely order fulfillment and above all sustainability. Sling Mobility offers numerous other features such as, full responsibility for delivery vehicles, handling drivers, cash and collection, providing riders and transport at a comparatively low cost and detailed analytics to aid decision-making. Similarly, there is ample financial flexibility for independent couriers and individual riders. It is cheaper to own and run, hassle free to operate than a regular delivery motorbike, with low upfront acquisition cost, low overall running cost and easy access to recharging battery through a swapping mechanism, which is a first for Sri Lanka.

The concept of Sling Mobility has been designed to offer a wide range of concessions for independent delivery riders on leasing and rentals.

The scooters are provided at a cheap 12 month daily rental model with the rider owning the bike at the end of 12 months with an opportunity to obtain batteries on lease. Battery swapping and recharging access points set up across the area of operation saves time for the riders. Other facilities include roadside assistance, real time range estimation, customized vehicle, user profile data and door step maintenance. The cloud connected nature of these vehicles help in pre-emptive diagnostics. These vehicles come with MFF 2 Sims, a first for Sri Lanka where the tracking and cloud connectivity of the vehicles will happen from the vehicle itself instead of the rider’s phone.

On risk management, Sling Mobility offers multiple features such as, GPS positioning for the battery and motor, remote locking, vehicle intelligence on user safety and system failures, credit points and third party risk assessment and offline merchant triple insurance.

Sling Mobility is supported by the Lion Ventures – a private investment firm that champions mission based businesses in Sri Lanka. Lion Ventures has a diverse team of advisors and investors such as Dr. Conny Boersch, Marco Stutz and Asad Sultan.
