Sri Lanka Lab and Medical Expo 2016 to kick start this month

Sri Lanka Lab and Medical Expo 2016, an exhibition showcasing state-of-the-art analytical, scientific and biotechnology related instruments is set to run from 18th- 20th August at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC).
Ten countries which includes UAE, India, Japan, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Australia etc. are expected to participate and showcase their products and services which would set an ideal platform to learn industry insights for the professionals.
It also would  provide the opportunity to learn on improving the quality of equipments available to Sri Lankan hospitals, pathology labs, research institutes, pharma and food industries, universities, material testing labs, and trade suppliers which would commercially revitalise the laboratory and medical industry in Sri Lanka but will also inspire new ideas, research and synergies.  S.D. Promo Media, India Director  Vivek Vikram said that the purpose of this exhibitions are to bring scientists, quality controllers, doctors, trade suppliers together to meet face to face and share knowledge.
“It is all about laboratory and medical. We supply manufacturer and exporters to show case their latest technology and products to trade professional. This provides the participants to connect with global leaders,” he said.
“It will offer the exhibiting companies not only to exhibit their products, innovations and services  but to  meet the key decision maker and find links. It will show some world’s best brands which would enhance their market share and contacts,” he added.
Sri Lanka Society for Medical Laboratory Science President and Sri Lanka Society of Medical Laboratory Practitioners President Ravi Kumudesh said, “Without science, technology and  engineering innovations we cannot grow further our services for quality laboratory service and therefore we  are planning in this year how we could bring in new innovations, technology, new finding in the world to serve our nation and the sector,”
Ministry of Health Deputy Director General Dr. Amal Harsha De Silva said that this is going to be a major event, sharing new things and knowledge between all  stakeholders who are providing medical and health care in the country noting that Sri Lanka can gain a lot of knowledge through this. “It is a huge opportunity, this will improve the Sri Lankan health sector in a big way, improve the health by providing  the professionals all the gadgets. This will be a major hit in time to come,” he said.
He said that it is important to detect deceases earlier as people need to check themselves before they become patients and there are a lot of technology available to detect such diseases at the bud.
“In Sri Lanka 25 percent are having diabetes, but many are don’t know of it  which is a major disaster.  So we need to make people aware of this latest  technologies  and check themselves before they become patients,” he said.
The exhibition is organized by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine in concert with the Sri Lanka society for Medical Laboratory Science, Institute of Quality and Productivity Management, Sri Lanka, Institute of Chemistry, Ceylon and S.D Promo Media Pvt. Ltd. In addition to the main exhibition, a further two-day symposium organised by the College of Chemical Services (CCS) of the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon will also take place at the same venue.
