Toyota Lanka (Private) Limited, the sole authorized distributor for Toyota vehicles in Sri Lanka showcased the power and versatility of their signature Toyota, Hino and Pirelli brands at the recently concluded Foxhill Supercross 2016.
Sri Lanka’s premier annual motor sporting event was held at Diyatalawa on Sunday 24th 2016 under the patronage of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva. The event was organized by the Sri Lanka Military Academy in coordination with the Sri Lanka Auto Sports Drivers Association (SLADA). The event held for the 24th consecutive occasion saw the participation of more than 149 riders and 190 drivers in 24 events. More than 25,000 spectators were present to witness the races this year.
Toyota Lanka has for over a decade extended their support to the event and this yearthesponsorship was enhanced with the provision of Hino trucks as recovery vehicles for the races. The reliability and performance factors of the Hino brand made it an ideal support vehicle for emergencies that occurred on and off the 2km track.
Two of Toyota’s flagship models, the Land Cruiser 76 and the Hilux were also used as course cars for the entirety of the event. The Land Cruiser 76 which is built to perform under any condition with strength and reliability being its core attributes, and the rugged and durable nature of the Toyota Hilux often outshone the parade of monster racing machines as they drove around the dirt track to assist the safety marshals prior to flag off. The Toyota Lanka machines were driven by Pirelli, one of the world’s leading high performance tire brands. Pirelli is the trusted specialist brand for many global racing giants (including Formula 1 racing),and Toyota Lanka will be looking to expand within the Sri Lankan market by catering to target segments for whom performance and quality are key necessities.
With the successful completion of the Foxhill Supercross 2016, Toyota Lanka is looking towards further enhancing their involvement at next year’s races with the intention of establishing their mega brands as part of Sri Lanka’s motor sports culture.
