Fashion Bug sponsors Dammika Kithulgoda scholarship foundation

Fashion Bug, one of Sri Lanka’s leading retail clothing chain with over 16 outlets island-widesponsored an event organized by the ‘Parliament

Sevaka Sangamaya’ with a motive of granting scholarships to outstanding and deserving students who excelled at the recently concluded GCE O/L, A/L and Grade 5 scholarship Examinations. 

Held on the 1st of January, the event recognized and awarded those who have achieved distinction and merit grades during the year 2014/2015. More than 400 participated which comprised of students, families, and parliament officials. 

Mr. ShabierSubian, Director- Fashion Bug and Founder- SisuDirimagafoundation, said ‘It is a privilege to be a part of this socially responsible initiative. Children are the leaders of tomorrow and it is vital for them to have access to quality education which comes with a higher price today. These scholarships will allow students to free themselves from financial stress and pursue their desired path.’

‘Public-private partnerships have always proven to be an effective way in uplifting the standards of our society especially in the education sector. As a CSR oriented company we’re ambitious to sponsor many similar endeavors in the months to come,’ he added.

Fashion Bug is no stranger to similar initiatives having sponsored the DammikaKithulgoda Foundation previously too. The company recently also initiated its own scholarship programme as part of its signature CSR program SisuDirimaga foundation with ambitious plans for the future. Additionally, it also introduced the first ever peer counselling program to school children which will continue in all districts in the year 2016 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, said Dr. S H M Faraaz – Deputy General Manager of Fashion Bug.

The event was graced by Hon. ThilangaSumathipala - Deputy Speaker and President of Sri Lanka Cricket Council along with Mr. DhammikaDasanayake - Secretary General of Parliament, Mr. Neel Siriwardena - Deputy Secretary and Ms. KushaniRohanadeera- Assistant Secretary of Parliament.

SisuDirimaga, an award winning CSR program by Fashion Bug,has successfully benefitted 20 schools and over 7000 students as of today, and continues all the way till it achieves its goal of spreading amongst 120 schools and over 100,000 students across the country.
