The Galle Literary Festival (GLF) is one of Colombo’s most-looked-forward to and renowned cultural events, GLF 2016 kicks off this week and features a myriad of writers, both local and international, spiced up by a series of interactive events.

Taking place from 13th to the 17th January, the festival is an event of international grandeur with the festival playing host to award winning writers, historians, and biographers from around the world. This year’s festival guests include such literary luminaries as Fiona Shaw, Andrea Schenkel, Jeet Thayil, Meg Rosoff, Gregory Pardlo, and Master Chefs Jacques & Laurent Pourcel.

Land Rover is proud to present a literary adventure with Sebastian Faulks on James Bond 'Devil May Care' at the Festival. Sebastian Faulks wrote Devil May Care, in the style of Ian Fleming, after being approached by Ian Fleming Publications to write a Bond novel for Ian Fleming’s centenary. Published in 2008, the novel went straight into the best seller lists and sold 44,000 copies in 4 days to become the fastest selling fiction book after the Harry Potter titles.

Land Rover is also very excited to present Hugh Thomson on 'Nanda Devi - A Journey to the Last Sanctuary'. Hugh Thomson talks about his journey to the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, on the border between India and Tibet, a place that had never been entered by human beings until 1934. Surrounded by 20,000 ft. peaks, the Sanctuary is virtually impenetrable.

“Land Rover is delighted to play a key role in partnering the Galle Literary Festival as we see a huge potential in bringing such internationally acclaimed authors to a Sri Lankan audience. We are glad to be a part of GLF and the role it plays in the development of tourism in Galle and its surroundings as well as giving due precedence to the rich and diverse cultural heritage of Sri Lanka,” said Sheran Fernando - Managing Director, SML Frontier Automotive.
