The ‘Mana Jayawardana Memorial Rally’ organised by the Classic Car Club of Ceylon was held for the second consecutive year recently, commencing from Independence Avenue, Colombo 7 and concluded with lunch at Palm Village Hotel, Uswetakeiyawa.
The club has organised this annual event as a gesture of gratitude for the yeomen service rendered by the late Classic Car Club of Ceylon Founder President Mana Jayawardana.
Participants in their ‘classic beauties’ were required to follow directions, which were handed out at the Start Line, and entailed them to identify certain landmarks along the route, taking them a good two and a half hours to reach Palm Village Hotel.
All participants in the rally were presented with a ‘Certificate of Participation’ by Romesh Jayawardana. Trophies were awarded to the winner, first, second, third and fourth runners-up. In addition, the winner received the ‘Mana Jayawardana Memorial Challenge Trophy’ donated by Classic Car Club of Ceylon President Dinesh Jayawardana and son of the late Mana Jayawardana.
