Mobil powers Mana Jayawardana Memorial Rally 2015

The  ‘Mana  Jayawardana  Memorial  Rally’  organised  by  the  Classic  Car  Club  of  Ceylon  was  held  for  the  second  consecutive  year  recently, commencing  from  Independence  Avenue,  Colombo  7  and  concluded  with  lunch  at  Palm  Village  Hotel,  Uswetakeiyawa.

The  club has  organised  this  annual  event  as  a  gesture  of  gratitude  for  the  yeomen  service  rendered  by  the  late  Classic  Car  Club  of  Ceylon Founder  President  Mana  Jayawardana.

Participants  in  their  ‘classic  beauties’  were  required  to  follow  directions,  which  were  handed  out  at  the  Start  Line,  and  entailed  them  to  identify  certain  landmarks  along  the  route,  taking  them  a  good  two and a half hours  to  reach  Palm Village  Hotel.

All  participants  in  the  rally  were  presented  with  a  ‘Certificate  of  Participation’  by  Romesh  Jayawardana. Trophies were awarded to the winner, first, second, third and fourth runners-up. In  addition,  the  winner  received   the  ‘Mana  Jayawardana  Memorial  Challenge  Trophy’  donated  by  Classic Car  Club  of  Ceylon  President  Dinesh  Jayawardana and  son  of  the  late  Mana  Jayawardana.

The  event  was  sponsored  by  McLarens  Lubricants  Limited, the sole  distributor  for  ExxonMobil  Lubricants  in  Sri  Lanka. The winners of the Mana Jayawardana Memorial Rally 2015 are: Winner – Milindu Mallawarachchi – Volkswagen Beetle, First Runner-Up – Suren Cooke – Mazda, Second Runner – Up –     Sidath Fernando – Mercedes Benz 300 SEL, Third Runner-Up – Sir Ian Jennings – Rolls Royce - Silver Spirit and Fourth Runner-Up – Yevinda Amarasekara – Jaguar Mark 2.
