Sri Lanka’s leading e-commerce site, wOw.lk, recently launched its latest social media and internal campaign #wOwLoveFest, to spread some love on Valentine’s Day. The focus of the campaign was to not only celebrate the love that couples share, but to celebrate love for one’s self, one’s team members, family, friends and the community.
Commenting on the Valentine’s Day campaign, Naresh Sathasivam– General Manager Sails and Marketing, Digital Commerce Lanka (Pvt) Ltd., the company that owns and operates wOw.lk said: “This Valentine’s Day, we were able to run an array of contests and promotions, that enabled us to truly interact and engage with our valued customers. We applied a multi-dimensional approach to our campaign, and focused on celebrating love amongst our customers, employees and community members in need. Our Valentine’s Day competitions were light-hearted, upbeat and added an element of fun to the occasion, brightening up the day for all of our key stakeholders. The campaign was also in keeping with our ongoing efforts to establish higher levels of engagement on our social media and digital platforms in order to strengthen the relationship and connection that our customers have with the wOw.lk brand.”
Giving the perfect gift: In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, wOw.lk focused on making the process of buying and giving special gifts both easy and affordable. Discounts of up to 60% off were offered on a carefully curated selection of ‘his & her’ gifts. A separate landing page was developed on the website for customers to learn more about the entire Valentine’s Day gift collection. The majority of products were available for immediate pick-up or giving the perfect gift and customers received a complementary teddy bear with every purchase. In order to offer a wide array of gifts, to suit a broad range of interests and preferences, wOw.lk also partnered with new merchants, to offer customers a unique and useful range of products for the occasion.
Prizes galore in-store: All walk-in customers during Valentine’s week, were able to participate in an in-store lucky dip and stand the chance to win a total of four exclusive prizes. A Puma watch for him and an Elle SPIRIT watch for her (provided by Blink International (Pvt) Ltd), along with Nike Gold edition perfumes for men and women were up for grabs, along with a Helinta Beauty Care Pack (featuring aloe vera gel, face scrub, foot scrub and massage balm). One lucky winner also walked away with a dinner voucher for two worthRs. 10,000 from Mango Tree.
Sharing love on social media: wOw.lk also held two social media contests, for couples and single customers alike. For the ‘Spill & Win’ contest on Facebook, customers had to share the nickname that their significant other calls them (bae, baby or boo), and the person who shared the cutest nickname, walked away with a romantic getaway at Sunrise by Jetwing. Single customers were also included in the Valentine’s Day hype, and had to share the best and worst pick-up lines that they had ever heard and three lucky winners received SENNHEISERER earphones from Dynamic AV.
Spreading love in the workplace: All of wOw.lk’s employees also came together to celebrate Valentine’s Day and were treated to delicious cupcakes and a lucky sticker competition. Each employee had a sticker placed at the bottom of their cupcake and the team member with a special sticker, won a gift voucher worth Rs. 10,000. wOw.lk team members spent some time together in the morning, taking a break from their day-to-day work to bond and catch up with their fellow colleagues and friends.
Circulating love in the community: To give back to the community on Valentine’s Day and in keeping with the company’s commitment to share love with everyone, including those in need, wOw.lk worked together with the National Blood Transfusion Service and the youth of St. Theresa’s Church, Thimbirigasaya (which is located near the wOw.lk head office), to run a blood donation drive. A total of 80 customers, staff members and well-wishers participated in the drive, and all collections were sent to help individuals in need of urgent transfusions due to life threatening conditions or medical emergencies.
