A competition with a difference!

A veteran politico and a young newcomer to politics in an area where once an ancient kingdom flourished are said to be distributing books to schoolchildren.

These two politicos are often referred to by the people in the district as Guru and Golaya (pupil).  When the Guru, a veteran politico who once held very high office – is going round the district distributing books mostly written on places of archaeological interest, the Golaya taking his cue is giving away exercise books to school children.  This books distribution exercise by the Guru and Golaya in competition for the preference vote has become a source of much amusement to the people in the district, they say.
