A lament of a Diyawanna member!

“ I,  in a sense, lost both the neck and the pot as told in the proverbial Mahadenamutta story as a result of extending my support to these people!” 

A fair Diyawanna member representing a seat in the South made this lamentation in the council the other day. 
She happens to be a prominent politico as well as a popular film actress. 

She recalled that she lost the position she held once due to her turning down a request by the Yahapalanaya high-ups to support their government. She suffered another injustice when she lost the right to domicile in a foreign country. 

She added in an angry tone that despite her winning a Diyawanna seat at the last general polls, the present regime failed to provide a measure of relief to her considering the injustices she had to suffer. 

The fair member said that even the man who followed the advice of Mahadenamutta in that proverbial story was luckier than her!

She concluded her lamentation by saying that she had decided to appear on the political platform of another political party in the near future and on that occasion, she hoped to give a piece of her mind to those who had badly let her down.
