A politico with a difference!

It would be a matter for happiness for many to hear that there are at least a few decent and principled politicos in the country. 

The politico we propose talk about hails from a distant district in the country. A party leader, he is now a top team member. 

Given the political clout he wields in his home turf, some Green party bigwigs had tried to hook him through the offer of very attractive rewards. However, he stood with Pohottuwa through thick and thin disdaining the advantages offered to him. 

When Pohottuwa formed the new government, this politico was offered a key portfolio at the top table. 

Most politicos no sooner they are raised to high office, begin looking for luxury vehicles, posh official residences etc. The official vehicle that this top team member received had developed engine trouble just after one week’s use. Thereafter, he had begun using his own van. When all top team members are going about in luxury limousines, he is the only top team member using a van for both official and private purposes, they say. 

Many approach him with gifts to ask for various illegal favours, but they have to go away disappointed, they say. 

The politico would tell those trying to ‘buy’ him with valuable gifts, “True, I am a poor man. But I am rich in principles!”

This politico who has escaped imminent death many a time is the only top team member who addresses the Pohottuwa Chief as ‘Aiya’, they say.
