Braced for the jump?

06 Nov 2019 - {{hitsCtrl.values.hits}}

Rumours abound these days about possible political somersaults by several Diyawanna politicos. The names of two likely ‘jumpers’ were constantly mentioned in political circles last week.

One of them is a young politico whose antics since his brief foray into politics could bring no honour to his great ancestor and the other one is a character from the South.

The latest reports say that two more names have made their way into the list of prospective turncoats. One of them is said to be a title-holder from Gampaha and the other one is a politico from an area known for its salubrious cool climate. The latter one once held a high post in a city in that area representing the Blue party. Once a vociferous one, he has gone into the silent mode these days.

Meanwhile, another politico representing a constituency named after a waterway in the Gampaha district which has also a large a concentration of Catholics is widely described as an unhappy politico straddling the fence.

However, they all are awaiting the last days of the countdown to the big poll to reveal their true colours, they say.
