A very senior Diyawanna politico of the Northern alliance, who, in fact, is the second in command of the alliance, has decided to resign from the high position in the alliance.

This alliance deputy had long been nursing a grievance that he had all along been getting sidelined due to the imposing conduct of a comparatively young party member believed to be having a covetous eye on the leadership.

After deciding to quit the deputy status in the alliance, the politico had written a lengthy resignation letter to the elderly party leader pouring out his heart.

However, the party leader after going through the lengthy letter had torn it into pieces and consigned it to the waste paper basket, they say.
