Drunken revel held him up!

A Pohottuwa purohita at state level had received a severe tongue-lashing from party supporters when he got about five hours late in attending a public meeting organized on his own initiative. 

 

 


He had got this meeting organized to thank the voters for supporting the party candidate at the big poll.


The people in the area in response to a general invitation had gathered by about 8.30 in the morning at a Pradeshiya Sabha premises announced earlier as the venue for the meeting and had eagerly been waiting for the arrival of the purohita, but the politico had turned up there only at 2 in the afternoon and by that time the crowd had left the place.


The organizers and a handful of party activists who had remained there with anger simmering inside had given vent to it in choice Sinhala when he arrived, they say.


It had later come to light that the purohita could not attend the meeting on time as he had been carousing the previous night with some buddies.
