Uwe Soysa would often lash out at the former strongman both in the council and outside. He had hit hard at the former strongman even at a foundation stone-laying ceremony held in Hambantota the other day.

By the way, the Uwe politico had come face to face with the former strongman the day after the Hambantota ceremony on the Diyawanna council corridor.

On seeing his erstwhile colleague, the former strongman who is used to take the former’s swipes at him lightly, hailed him with a broad smile: “Hi! How are you?”
Soysa who was a little upset with some unkind things he said about the former strongman the previous day pricking his conscience, replied: “I am quite okay. Thank you, Sir…!”

The former strongman scenting Uwe politico’s unease told him smilingly, “I understand that you slammed me yesterday also!”

“Ah! Sir don’t you know the things we politicians say at meetings…?” he said and quickly added: “Sir, my wife and son are keen on getting an appointment to see you!”

“O! Why on earth do they want to see me?” the former strongman asked.

“Sir, my son’s wedding is around the corner…They want to invite you!” the Uwe politico replied.

“What is the worth of the presence of people like me at such an event?” asked the former strongman.

“My wife and son say that your presence at the wedding is a must!”

“Okay! I don’t mind things you say about me …! Ask your wife and son to see me!” said the former strongman.

The Uwe politico’s wife and son had called the former strongman the following day itself to invite him to the wedding, they say.
