The political circles are said to be abuzz with the talk that the PC polls are round the corner. The government has planned to hold the polls within the first three months of next year, sources close to government say.

Meanwhile, the prospect of early PC polls has led to the surfacing of a number of new faces from prominent political families in the upcountry in particular, they say.

The son of a leading bearded politico who has made a strong presence in the upcountry is among the crop of new faces to enter the fray, they say.

A well-known young daughter of a ‘telephone’ stalwart is too being groomed to enter the race.

A daughter from a long- standing king-maker family that has made a footprint in the estate sector is also due to make her appearance on the scene, they say.

By the way, the Pohottuwa has decided to field a majority of newcomers and a few people who unsuccessfully contested the general polls are to be among them, sources close to the government say.
