A prominent Diyawanna politico had stockpiled chemical fertilizer necessary for his paddies ahead of the decision taken to impose the ban of fertilizer imports, they say.

This politico is said to be the owner of a 50 to 60 acre-paddy tract. 

He is said to have gathered a bumper harvest thanks to the availability of fertilizer in ample quantity. And the farmers referring to the good fortune of the Diyawanna politico recall the popular Sinhala proverb, he who  wields the ladle often generously serves himself.
