The Western Province steering committee meeting of the Grama-shakti programme, a brainchild of Number One was held recently.

At this meeting, Number One had been told that the provincial chief had decided to launch a tree-planting campaign titled ‘Thuru Isura’ as part of the Grama-shakti programme.

Number One had reacted angrily to this news and pulled up the provincial chief for wanting to launch another program under Grama -shakti under a separate title. Then suddenly it had occurred to Number One that the provincial chief had named the proposed tree-planting campaign after himself.

“Ah! You wanted to launch a programme carrying your name!”

Highly embarrassed provincial chief pointing to some council officials present at the meeting had said: “Sir, they suggested the name!  The name was not my idea!”

However, it had been obvious that Number One, as well as others, had taken his denial with a pinch of salt.
