The Northern Alliance leader had the other day berated his second-in-command over the phone.

The grey-haired chief had been furious when he learnt that the second-in-command had made a written request to the Geneva authorities not to further delay in strictly dealing with the Lankan government for failing to fulfil the pledges it had already made.

The elderly chief had taken up the position that he had done something utterly tactless for they stood to gain nothing by antagonizing the Government except to lose what little it was going to concede for the wellbeing of their community.

However, he had straightaway rejected the position taken up by the party chief. He had reportedly retorted: “While you are mollycoddling this Government, we are going to lose all votes in the North to Wigi. Please, Sir, don’t mess up our affairs on the wrong advice being given by the person raring to be our party leader soon…”
