His tirade left them stunned!

A government political bigwig chaired a high- level official conference in a district well known for the mangosteen fruit the other day. The main purpose of this conference was to discuss the security situation in the area.

Addressing the political and white-collar high-ups having a stake in the area, the government bigwig exhorted them to leave no stone unturned in ensuring the security of all communities living there. The bigwig also explained that they have to deal with a threat posed by an international terrorist outfit and also the security measures planned to be taken to prevent a recurrence of the kind of calamity they had to experience.

The question and answer session followed the government bigwig’s address. Silence ensued for some time as the participants remained quiet without raising any query. A former purohita with the name of a village, a critic of Gota in the recent past, suddenly rose to his feet and broke the silence saying: “Sir, please don’t get angry with me for saying this: people in this country no longer take seriously what you people say now. What you people are telling the people these days serve no purpose either!”

This searing comment was only a preface to a tirade that followed. None of the political or white-collar high up took the trouble to reply to the accusations he levelled at various political authorities.

Later the white-collar high-ups explained the measures taken to ensure the security and law and order in the district. But whatever they were saying seemed to be lost on all participants for they obviously remained preoccupied with the broadside fired by the politico earlier.

Later the former purohita, who launched the tirade walked out and the conference too ended soon after.
