A whopping Rs.100 million overdraft had been granted to a powerful accountant by a State bank with Treasury approval during the previous regime.
The accountant had got this bank overdraft as his price for safeguarding the interests of the previous regime in a case against a certain well known female official of the State, they say.
By the way, another loan facility of Rs.125 million had been made available to this accountant during the early days of yahapalanaya. Meanwhile, the government’s highest decision making body had turned down a proposal made by the purohita in charge of the subject to grant yet another loan of Rs.200 million to this accountant, they say.
