More heads to roll for defying party decree

The Blue party stalwarts who attended the recent Kurunegala rally organised by the rebel group in defiance of the party decree face expulsion from the Central Committee.

The New Big Boss who is also the Blue party chief has decided to wield the whip on the dissidents irrespective of their status on the advice of several seniors, they say.

These seniors have pointed out that the failure to take punitive action against dissidents would seriously undermine the general discipline and the integrity of the party.  The legal don who once played second fiddle to the monitoring member and the leading loyalists of the deposed strongman from Matara, Kalutara, Negombo and Nawalapitiya are among the Diyawanna members expected to suffer a fall from their present status.  Meanwhile, the Provincial Chief who backed out on second thoughts and the Ministerial one from the South who could not attend the rally ‘due to being caught in a traffic snarl’ have narrowly escaped disciplinary action.
