IIA SRI LANKA presents National Conference 2024: Embracing Trends & Enhancing Value

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Sri Lanka is set to hold its highly anticipated 9th National Conference on the 11th of September 2024 at Marino Beach Hotel, Colombo. The conference, themed "Embracing Trends and Enhancing Value," aims to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities in the field of internal auditing and corporate governance.

This premier event will bring together distinguished speakers, panelists, and industry leaders to share insights on emerging trends, ethical challenges, and value creation in the rapidly evolving landscape of internal auditing.

Chief Guest, Mr. Faizal Salieh, Chairman of the SEC will inaugurate the event, providing invaluable insights into the regulatory landscape and its impact on internal auditing practices. Mr. Rajeeva Ban-daranaike, CEO of the Colombo Stock Exchange, will deliver the keynote address, focusing on the pivotal role of governance and regulatory frameworks in ensuring corporate accountability and integ-rity.

 

 

Key Highlights of the Sessions

Session 1: Emerging Trends and Related Challenges

  • Speaker: Mr.Santhosh Shetty, Partner at Deloitte India, will discuss the latest trends shaping the internal audit profession.
  • Panelists: Mr. Madu Ratnayake, President of a leading global cybersecurity firm- Scybers, Mr. Ahane Jayasekara, Deputy Managing Partner at BDO Sri Lanka, and Mr Haresh Perera,Enterprise Technology & Performance Leader at Deloitte together with Mr. Shetty will sharetheir perspectives on the challenges posed by these trends and related challenges.
  • Moderator: Mr. Prasenne Balachandran, Vice President of Risk & Governance at Inqube Global, will guide the discussion.

 

 

Session 2: The New Governance: Ethical Challenges in a Connected World

  • Speaker: Mr. Renuke Wijewardhane, Chief Regulatory Officer at the CSE, will address the ethical challenges and other developments in modern governance.
  • Panelists: Dr. Harsha Cabral, President's Counsel, Ms. Aroshi Nanayakkara, Chief Executive Officer of Global Consulting Company, and Dr. Niroshana Seneviratne, DGM- Internal au-dit/Chief Internal Auditor of HNB together with Mr. Wijewardena will further explore the new developments in corporate governance and related ethical implications.
  • Moderator: Mr. Brian Goudian, Principal of Consulting and Workforce Advisory Services at EY Sri Lanka, will facilitate the session. 

 

 

Session 3: Value Creation and Value Retention through Internal Audit

  • Speaker: Dr. Aroshan Indujeeva, Independent Risk & Governance Practitioner will discuss strategies for creating and retaining value in organizations through internal audits.
  • Panelists: Ms. Manohari Abeysekara, Independent Non-Executive Director, Ms Aruni Goo-netilleke, former chairperson of HNB, and Mr. Sujit Christy, President of Circulo de CISO, will add their expertise on maximizing value through effective internal audit practices.
  • Moderator: Mr. Thivanka Jayasinghe, Audit & Assurance Leader at Deloitte will moderate the discussion.
