Suren Cooke Agencies collaborates with NPQS to hold Riken fumigation equipment training

A pioneer pest management firm in Sri Lanka, Suren Cooke Agencies (SCA) collaborated with National Plant Quarantine Services (NPQS) to host a training on the proper use of Riken equipment used in fumigation. Participating at the programme were pest management firms undertaking fumigation services as well as NPQS industry professionals.

The objective of this knowledge transfer session was to share the insights gathered by one of the directors attached to SCA during a recent training in Japan to familiari s e on the use of new models of Riken Products that play a significant part in company’s pest management services.

Elaborating on the programme , Director, SCA Rajitha Cooke stated that SCA offers best support for the Riken customers and a familiarisation session of this nature would enhance the knowledge and technical expertise of the pest  management industry to meet international standards.

“Suren Cooke Agencies is on a journey to ensure our expertise is in line with  the latest technical and technology knowhow. Parallelly, we consider it our  responsibility to share that knowledge with the industry stakeholders as this would benefit the nation as much on an individual level,” he added.

The proper usage of devices, recommended models for fumigation, factors  considered when selecting a detector, conditions to be followed when storing the detector during fumigation preparation etc , w ere discussed in depth at  the training . The session also included a demonstration covering all scenarios.

Meanwhile, t he Additional Director of NPQS , Dr. Thushara Wickrama a ra ch chi commended SCA for taking the initiative to host a timely and useful training that develops the industry standards .

The company has completed similar training sessions in the past, including a programme for National Dengue Control Unit on the use of hand - held and  vehicle mounted fogging machines.
