101st Club Championship at RCGC Amrith accounts for Club Championship

Veteran golfer Amrith De Soysa exhibited some top-class golf for the appreciative members of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) when he accounted for the Cup Championship at their Club course in Borella.

This was his fifth title in the Club Championship history, having previously been the youngest ever winner at the age of 14.

Defending champion Yannik Kumara who won last year at the Centenary event did not participate at this event as he is out of the Island.

De Soysa, who was in prime form, played Sachin De Silva, and was four up on the turn (first 18 holes) and then led eight up on the 10th on the second round.

But burly De Silva stormed back with three in a row to make it five up on the 13th.

Amrith however won on the 14th moving 6 up, by playing some exhibition golf in front of a packed club house.
In the Ladies Club Championship it was the 14-year-old young golfing sensation Kaya Daluwatte continuing her good form when she defended her title beating Anashya Weerakody.

Weerakody playing her first final showed lot of promise but Daluwatte with her experience pulled it off in sensational style.
