106th National Tennis Championship Dinara, Arushi advance to U14 Girls Final

The semi-finals of the Under 14 Girls’ singles event of the 106th National Tennis Championships was worked off yesterday at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo with Dinara de Silva and Arushi Thomas winning their matches to advance to the final while Tharuk Munasinghe won his match to enter the Boys’ Under 14 final.  
de Silva and Thomas recorded easy wins against Onali Samarawickrama and Inuki Jayaweera while Munasinghe overcame Methwan Wijemanne by the same winning margin of two sets to nil.  


Meanwhile in the two pre-quarterfinals of the Boys’ Under 18 singles Thehan Wijemanne and Zaidh Zihar come out victorious against Janith Munasinghe and Ramith Herath to book their places in the quarterfinals.  


In two-quarter final encounters of the Women’s Open doubles the pair of Oneli Perera/Anjalika Kurera and Savini Jayasuriya/Janali Manamperi won to advance to the semi finals.  


The championship will be continued today.

Singles:  
Under 14 Girls’ – Dinara de Silva beat Onali Samarawickrama 2-1 (2/6, 7/5, 10/8), Arushi Thomas beat Inuki Jayaweera 2-0 (7/5, 6/1).  
Under 14 Boys’– Tharuk Munasinghe beat Methwan Wijemanne 2-0 (6/4, 6/1).  
Pre Quarter Finals:  
 Under 18 Boys’– Thehan Wijemanne beat Janith Munasinghe 2-0 (6/3, 6/3), Zaidh Zihar beat Ramith Herath 2-1 (6/2, 6/7(5), 10/5).  
Quarter Finals:  
 Doubles:  
Women’s Open – Oneli Perera/Anjalika Kurera beat Anitra Dharmaratne/Dinethya Dharmaratne 2-1 (3/5, 4/1, 10/7), Savini Jayasuriya/Janali Manamperi beat Hasali Gajaba/Saneshi Willoraarachchi 2-0 (6/3, 6/0).
