106th National Tennis Championships Savini, Anjalika, Neyara, Nesangi, Inuki enter quarters

Top seeded Savini Jayasuriya along with Anjalika Kurera, Neyara Weerawansa, Nesangi Hemakumara and Inuki Jayaweera advanced to the quarter finals of the Women’s Open singles event of the 106th National Tennis Championship when they came out on top in the five pre-quarter final encounters played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.  

Meanwhile in the Men’s Open event top seeded Luca Knese, Wenuka Kithnula, Meshal Sinnen, Dhilvan Herath, Zaidh Zihar and Anuth Wijesinghe won their third round matches to qualify for the pre-quarter finals.

Women’s Open – Savini Jayasuriya beat Senula Wijeyawardena 2-0 (6/2, 6/0); Anjalika Kurera beat Dinethya Dharmaratne 2-0 (6/2, 6/1); Neyara Weerawansa beat Oneli Perera 2-0 (6/3, 1/0rtd); Nesangi Hemakumara beat Nishka Vivekanandan 2-1 (3/6, 6/4, 10/5); Inuki Jayaweera beat Dahamna Methsandi 2-0 (6/3, 6/2)
