109th National Tennis Championship Dinara, Hasali, Rukshika and Nesangi enter semi finals

Dinara de Silva who clinched the Girls’ Under 18 title of the 109th National Tennis Championship which is in progress at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo along with Hasali Gajaba, Rukhika Wijesooriya and Nesangi Hemakumara advanced to the semi finals of the Women’s Open singles event when they came out on top in the quarter final encounters played yesterday.  

De Silva and Gajaba coasted to easy two sets to nil win over Inuki Jayaweera and Dulkini Ranasinghe while Wijesooriya and Hemakumara underwent some anxious moments before getting the better of Akesha de Silva and Sandithi Usgoadaarachchi by two sets to one.  

Meanwhile in the Girls’ Under 12 final which was played concurrently saw Sahansa Damsiluni emerge champion when she defeated Jennifer Mercy in a thrilling three set encounter by two sets to one.

Girls’ Under 12 - Sahansa Damsiluni beat Jennifer Mervy 2-1 (4/6, 6/2, 6/0).  

Quarter Finals:
Women’s Open – Dinara de Silva beat Inuki Jayaweera 2-0 (6/3, 6/3). ). Hasali Gajaba beat Dulkini Ranasinghe 2-0 (6/0, 6/1). Rukshika Wijesooriya beat Akesha de Silva 2-1 (3/6, 6/1, 6/1). Nesangi Hemakumara beat Sandithi Usgodaarachchi 2-1 (4/6, 7/5, 7/5).
