109th National Tennis Championship Semi finalists found in Girls’ and Boys’ U18 age group

The 109th National Tennis Championship which got underway at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo after it was hampered by rain which delayed the start saw the conclusion of the Girls’ and Boys’ Under 18 age group.   

In the girls’ cargeory Dinara de Silva along with Oneli Samarawickrama, Nesangi Hemakumara and Hasali Gajaba and while in the boys’ category Ganuka Fernando, Sandas Usgodaarachchi, Louis Knese and Methwan Wijemanne booking the berths to the semi finals in the two categories.   

Results:

Quarter Final - 

Girls’ Under 18 – Dinara de Silva beat Gehansa Methnadi 2-0 (6/2, 6/1). Oneli Samarawickrama beat Venuli Jayasinghe 2-0 (7/5, 6/2). Nesangi Hemakumara beat Inuki Jayaweera 2-1 (6/1, 2/6, 7/6). Hasali Gajaba received a walkover  

Boys’ Under 18 – Ganuka Fernando beat Lisal Goonetileke 2-0 (7/5, 6/2). Sandas Usgodaarachchi beat Vichinthya Nilaweera 2-0 (5/3, rtd). Louis Knese beat Lithum Layabandu 2-1 (4/6, 6/4, 7/6). Methwan Wijemanne beat Nithila Goonetileke 2-1 (6/1, 2/6, 7/6)
