115th Battle of Maroons Even game expected

The 115th Battle of the Maroons encounter between Dharmaraja College and Kingswood College will be played at the Asgiriya International Cricket Stadium today (23) and tomorrow (24). This encounter is played for T. B. Tennekoon Shield.


Sachintha Dissanyake will lead the Rajans outfit while the Randles Hill School will be led by Mahasen Abeykoon.
Dharmaraja in their five limited over encounters were able to beat only Wattala Antonians. 


It was a same fate for their opponents who won only one encounter against Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte. 
In their traditional two-days encounter,  Dharmaraja drew with Ananda, Mahinda, St. Anthony’s,Trinity and lost out to Nalanda and St. Sylvester’s drawing their two-day match against Prince of Wales.


For Dharmaraja their leading scorer is Sachintha Dissanayake who scored over 700 runs including a sparkling century against Ananda College along with six half centuries. Other leading players inclucde Pulindu Perera, Tharusha Wanninanayake and Dulara Bandulasena respectively. 


For Kingswood, Ganuka Saluwadana scored 300 plus and Hasintha Polkotuwa scored over 200 runs and took 15 wickets as they played only a few games in this season.


 Of the 114 encounters played so far Dharmaraja has won 35 encounters while Kingswood has won 19 matches and 60 encounters have ended in draws. The last win by any team was in 2015 when Dharmaraja won the match under the captaincy of Tharusha Weragoda. This is the oldest Big Match in the Central Province.
