48th Milo Schools Swimming and Aquatic Championship Defending champions St. Joseph’s, Visakha Vidyalaya, Lyceum IS Wattala retain titles

The 48th Milo Schools Swimming and Aquatic Championships concluded at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium swimming pool yesterday saw defending champions in the boys and girls categories St. Joseph’s Colombo who are winning the Milo trophy for the 19th successive year and Visakha Vidyalaya Colombo retaining the title for yet another year while in the Mixed Schools segment saw Lyceum International School Wattala too retaining the title for yet another year.


The two champion schools had things their own way as they were way ahead of the other schools that followed them.  St. Joseph’s ended up accumulating a massive 570 points while St. Peter’s was in second place way behind with 317 points followed by Ananda (299), Lyceum IS Wattala (299) and Trinity (284.5).


In the girls category, Visakha Vidyalaya ended with 423 points followed by Mahamaya College Kandy (311), Ladies College (277), Lyceum International School Wattala (258), and Musaeus College (230).


Meanwhile in the Combined Schools (Mixed) category Lyceum International School dominated proceedings with four of their schools taking the first four slots with Lyceum IS Wattala coming out on top securing 557 points followed by Lyceum IS Gampaha (229), Stafford IS (152), Lyceum IS Panadura (120 and Asian IS (115).

Individual Awards Champions:

Under 20 Girls – Tricia de Rose (Stafford IS – 35 points). Under 20 Boys – Chris Pavithra (St. Peter’s - 33). Under 18 Girls – Jessie Seneviratne (Holy Family Convent – 40). Under 18 Boys – Aakash Prabashwara (St. Joseph’s – 30). Under 16 Girls – S. Yahanmi Kariyawasam (Sangamiththa BV – 30). Under 16 Boys – M.F. Mohamed (Zahira Colombo - 40). Under 14 Girls – Yunawa Perera (Lyceum IS Gampaha - 30). Under 14 Boys – A.I.M. Haathim (St. Peter’s - 45). 


Swimming Age Group Team Champions:

Under 10 Girls – Lyceum IS Gampaha – 58 points.Under 10 Boys – St Joseph’s – 76. Under 12 Girls – Visakha Vidyalaya – 85. Under 12 Boys – St. Joseph’s – 128. Under 14 Girls – Lyceum IS Gampaha – 106. Under 14 Boys – St. Peter’s – 76. Under 16 Girls – Sirimavo Bandaranayake BV – 72. Under 16 Boys – St. Joseph’s – 84. Under 18 Girls – Ladies College – 99. Under 18 Boys – St. Joseph’s – 154. Under 20 Girls – Visalkha Vidyalaya – 138. Under 20 Boys – Ananda 141.5.
