The distinguished guests arriving for the opening ceremony

The 49th Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Meet conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Association and sponsored by Nestle Milo for the 30th successive year commenced with the opening ceremony held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex in Colombo yesterday.
The opening ceremony of the championship was graced by several distinguished guests, including, Athula Wijewardana, Director – Sports, Ministry of Education, Bernhard Stefan, Managing Director, Nestlé Lanka, Mohamed Ali, Director – Dairy & Beverages, Nestlé Lanka, Krishan Duminda, Advisor to the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association, Sajeewa Wickramasinghe, Head of Sponsorships and Activations, and Maduka Dasaman Fernando, President, Sri Lanka Schools Sports Association.
The championship has gathered a participation of over 5,000 athletes from over 250 schools across the country and will compete in six different age groups.
The championship is scheduled to end on July 14 with the Minister of Education, Susil Premajayantha gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
