53rd TB Jayah Memorial Schools Boxing Championship Postponed

In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Sri Lanka Schools Boxing Association has announced the postponement of the 53rd TB Jayah Memorial Schools Boxing Championship. The event, originally scheduled to be held at Vidyarathana Pirivena, Horana, will now take place in September 2023.
This highly anticipated championship will span over a period of 7 days and will feature the participation of more than 350 school boxers in the ring. The competition will be divided into four age categories, namely Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18.

It is noteworthy that this tournament will serve as a qualifying event for the National School Boxing Championship, scheduled for later this year in September. Aspiring young boxers will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and talent, vying for a chance to compete at the national level.
The decision to postpone the event was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, coaches, and spectators amid the prevailing circumstances. Organizers are committed to making the championship a resounding success while adhering to all necessary health protocols and guidelines.
