6 Red Ball National Snooker Championship: Boteju and Dinuruwan record back to back wins

Defending champion Mohamed Rikaz of Air Force BC seeks to retain the title.

The first day’s proceedings of the 6 Red Ball National Snooker Championship which got underway at the Billiards and Snooker Association headquarters billiards table in Torrington saw two cueists Susantha Boteju of YMBA Colombo and S.S. Dinuruwan of Army BC succeeding to record back to back wins.   

In the morning and evening sessions of play Boteju recorded wins against Irshath Thaha of Moors SC and Amir Faris of MICH while Dinuruwan defeated two of his clubmates S.L. Gamage and P.A.D. Peramuna.   

Meanwhile defending champion Mohamed Rikaz of Air Force BC who will be seeking to retain the title, along with W.M. Pushpakumara (ICSC), M.M. Jiffry (GLY), M. Sheriffdeen (Army BC), M.M. Mubeenn (Army BC), C.M.G. Chandrasekera (Army BC), M. Musharaff (MSC), M. Sheriffdeen (Army BC), T. Thanji (BRC), M.M. Jiffry (YMBA Galle) and A.R.C. Jayatissa (BWB) won their matches.   

The 6 Reds National Snooker Championship conducted by the Billiards and Snooker Association is being sponsored by Malship Group of Companies. The round robin matches are played over five frames with the quarter and semi finals over seven frames and the final over nine frames. The championship will be continued today.
