67th Eva Netball Tourney set for January 13–14

The 67th Eva All-Island Open Netball Tournament -- one of the oldest netball events in the country -- conducted by the Western Province Netball Association (WPNA) and sponsored by ICL Brands (Pvt) Limited for the 27th successive year, will be held on January 13 and 14 at the Air Force SC Grounds in Colombo.

“We are highly pleased with the organising of this event by the WPNA in the past 26 years, and because of that, we decided to continue our partnership for another year,” Group Director, ICL Brands, Anil de Silva, revealed during a media briefing held in Colombo.

Meanwhile, WPNA President Sandya Rajapaksa said that this event could also be a talent search for the Sri Lanka netball administration, as some of the most outstanding players at the school and national levels are set to participate in this tournament.

The Head of Category, ICL Brands, Roshini Fernando, said that for the first time, they have taken steps to reward those outstanding school players with a recourse contribution for this year.

The tournament will be open to all clubs, mercantile firms, government institutions, banks, universities, and schools (local and international) affiliated with their respective associations.
The tournament will be conducted in four divisions. Division ‘A’ (Open Men and Women), Division ‘B’ (Open Women’s only), Schools Division (U-15, U-17, U-19) and Veterans Division (Over-40 Women).

The champions and runners-up will receive challenge trophies in addition to the special awards of netball queen and netball king.
