Dunith Wellalage has been selected to lead the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team for the forthcoming inaugural ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup limited over tournament which is scheduled to get underway from July 13.
The squad, subject to approval by the Minister of Sports, includes experienced players in the likes of Chamika Karunaratne, Lasith Croospulle, Janith Liyanage, Avishka Fernando, Sahan Arachchige, Matheesha Pathirana and Ashen Bandara.
Eight teams from Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, Pakistan, India, Nepal, UAE and host Sri Lanka are billed to contest for supremacy with the first match between host Sri Lanka ‘A’ and Bangladesh ‘A’ scheduled to be played at the SSC ground.
The matches will be played in four venues around the metropolis SSC, CCC, P. Sara Stadium and R. Premadasa Stadium.
The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played on July 21 at P. Sara Stadium and R. Premadasa Stadium and the final on July 23 will be played under floodlights at R. Premadasa Stadium.
