Air Force promotes Olympic-bound judoka Dharmawardena

Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana has decided to promote Olympic-bound judoka Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardena from the rank of Corporal to Sergeant.  

The promotion will be effective from August 1, 2021, according to a Sri Lanka Air Force media spokesman.  
This is the second time Dharmawardena is representing Sri Lanka in the Olympics having participated in the 2016 Rio Games.  

Competing in the 73kg weight class, he won the solitary gold medal in judo at the 2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games. He has represented Sri Lanka in many international competitions.  

Air Force made arrangements to provide him the necessary equipment for training and facilities ahead of the Games.
