Bronze medalist at the 2023 Asian Youth Athletic Championships and up and coming Sri Lankan athlete Ayomal Akalanka of Ambagamuwa MMV qualified for the final of the 400m Hurdles for boys at the 7th Commonwealth Youth Games yesterday.The Commonwealth Youth Games Athletic Championship is now underway in Trinidad and Tobago and the final of the event is scheduled to be held today (10) at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
The preliminary round of the respective event was held yesterday, where Ayomal Akalanka, who participated in the first heat, managed to come first place clocking 51.99 seconds.
Akalanka also managed to record the best time in this competition which consists of two preliminary rounds.
