Akbar Bros defeat JKH to cruise through to semi-finals

Akbar Brothers Ltd. cruised through to the semi-final round when they beat John Keells Holdings at the 30th Mercantile Service Basketball Association B division tournament played at Royal indoor stadium on Monday.

   
The match was evenly poised at the end of the first quarter, but Akbar’s pulled away to a 34-15 lead at half-time. In the third quarter, John Keells clawed back and put the Akbar boys in foul trouble.   

However the Darley Road boys held sway, and completed the game with a 69-50 win to see them through to the semi-final. 

 
They entered the match on the heels of two convincing wins against Hatton National Bank and Union Bank with scores of 93 to 42 and 91 to 71 respectively.   
The two semi-finals will be held today at the Royal indoor courts at 5.30pm and 7.30 p.m.
