Another Netball Championship for Gateway

Having won the Under 20 championship earlier in the year, Gateway College continued its winning streak in Netball by winning the Under 16 for the third consecutive year and emerging Runner-up in the Under 14 International Schools Netball Championships. They overcame Lyceum International School, Wattala to be the Under 16 champions and lost marginally to Horizon College International at the Under 14 final.  


In both age groups, Gateway College, was unbeaten throughout the tournament and won most of their games with considerable margins. During their Under 16 first round games, they beat Wycherley International School Gampaha 11-2 and Lyceum International School, Wattala 8-4. At the semis, Gateway College beat Lyceum International School, Nugegoda 9-5. Tharuki Perera was crowned as the Netball Queen and Danara Dammarachchi was named the Best Defensive Player of the tournament.   


In Under 14, having beaten Lyceum International School, Wattala5-1, British School in Colombo 7-5 and Horizon College International 4-3 in the preliminary round, Gateway Colombo beat Gateway Kandy 4-3 at the semis. Tharini Eliatamby won the award of the Best Centre Court Player in the Under 14 category.
