Anuradhapura Junior Golfers play at Eagles Golf Links China Bay

Adhithya Weerasinghe and Sankanath Hesara win age group divisions

The Sri Lanka Golf – Junior Development Committee conducted a two-day golf tournament for junior golfers under training in Anuradhapura over the weekend of April 9 and 10 in China Bay Trincomalee.   


The tournament was played over 18 holes at the picturesque Eagles Golf Links China Bay, Trincomalee, in two age group categories, 9 – 14 years and 15 – 18 years, off the ladies’ tees red markers and men’s tees yellow markers respectively. Sri Lanka Golf the governing body of Golf has joined hands with the Sri Lanka Air Force in facilitating training and free access to juniors in Anuradhapura to play both courses on regular basis, further promoting the development of the sport islandwide.   


The youngsters were treated to an entire weekend of golf which included a day of intensive training on rules and mental side of the game followed by 36-hole golf tournament.   
The intensive training program was conducted by SLG coaching professional Priya Hemantha who was on hand throughout the weekend to help the kids in all aspects of the game.   
The awards were given away by Golf Professional Priya Hemantha and President of the Junior Golf Academy Anuradhapura, Mannapperuma.
