Former national cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunga was named Chairman of the newly appointed 15-member National Sports Council tasked with advising the Minister of Sports on matters relating to the development of sports in the country.
The Letters of Appointment were handed out by Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe at an event held at the Torrington National Sports Council yesterday.
The previous members of the National Sports Council which was headed by Mahela Jayawardene had tendered their resignations in April this year.
