Army Sports Club will be all out to end Police SC’s Cup aspirations when they lock horns in their Nippon Paint Inter Club Rugby League 2022 encounter which will be worked off tomorrow (March 19) at Police Park.

This is a must win game for Police SC if they are to secure a top four place and compete in the Cup segment in round two of the tournament.

The Soldiers have no chance of making the top four, but victory will allow Air Force to qualify for the Cup Segment at the expense of Police SC.

Police SC who are currently sixth in the points table possess a balanced forwards and three-quarter line with Wageesha Weerasinghe, Yohan Peiris, Sachith Silva, Suranga Kasun and skipper Iroshan Silva in peak form, posing a major threat to the Soldiers.

Army SC, coached by Radhika Hettiarachchi, almost stunned leaders Kandy SC last week, and have a slight edge in their speedy three-quarter line. Former Vidyartha player Dilshara Kodagoda, playing an outstanding season for the Army SC, has been lightning fast supporting full back Sudaraka Dikkumbura, Vinod Kumar and skipper Gayan Salinda.

Round two of the Inter Club League will be contested in two segments.

The top 4 will battle it out for the Cup while the bottom four teams will fight it out for the Plate.

All teams will carry their round one scores into round 2 which will give Havies and Kandy a major advantage over the other teams in the Cup segment.
