Army’s Sachini Kaushalya renews Sri Lanka pole vault women’s record

Army athlete Sachini Kaushalya Perera renewed her Pole Vault women's Sri Lanka record to 3.70 metres at the Mahinda Rajapakse Stadium in Diyagama yesterday.

She cleared 3.65m at the Asian Games first selection trial at the Sugathadasa Stadium in  February. She eclipsed this record at the 2nd selection trial.

Kandy District's Amasha Hettiarachchi achieved the qualifying standard for the World Junior Under-20 Athletic Championship 2022 in the 400m hurdles clocking one minutes 00.49 seconds.

She not only achieved the World Junior qualifying standard of 61.00 seconds but also broke the Junior National record of 1:00.57.
